Mrs. Letson wrote to George B. Schwabe, a member of Congress, requesting his support for the Merchant Seamen's War Service Act, HR 2346. Schwabe responded, assuring her that he would do his best to support the act when it is before Congress for consideration. Mrs. Letson also mentioned that the act is set to be discussed at a public hearing on October 18th and requested for Schwabe to watch out for it.
