The Debate Over the British Loan: A Congressman's Perspective, 1946-07-10 - 1946-07-10
Scope and Contents
Congressman George B. Schwabe received a telegram from John Rogers urging him to support the British Loan, but after conducting polls and receiving feedback from constituents and local organizations, he has decided to vote against it. Schwabe believes that the loan is not in the best interests of the country and is concerned about the rise of isolationist philosophy. John Rogers, however, still urges Schwabe to support the loan for the sake of international cooperation and peace.
