The document is a correspondence between Congressman George B. Schwabe and John Back regarding the coal strike and other labor problems in 1946. Back expresses the need for a new approach to industrial relations and suggests that business should set up its own controls to get rid of political controls. Schwabe agrees that the situation is becoming acute and that a change in leadership is needed. Both agree that the New Deal crowd needs to be replaced with individuals who have the public's interests at heart. They discuss the need for constructive leadership from the Republican Party or the organization of a new party. Back also suggests the need for a "Constitution for Business."
