Osage Indian Co-operative Party Secures Victory in Tribal Elections, 1946-06-04 - 1946-06-04
Scope and Contents
The Osage Indian Co-operative party, led by Fred Lookout, won a decisive victory in the election, with Lookout being re-elected as principal chief. Frank Shaw was elected as assistant chief, and eight council members were also elected. This was the first year that general voting by absentee ballot was allowed. The Cooperative party, organized in 1945, plans to implement programs for the benefit of the tribe.
