Correspondence on Unfair Provisions of the Social Security Act, 1946-03-30

Scope and Contents

Mr. Heinzman wrote a letter to Congressman Schwabe expressing his frustration with the Social Security Act, as he had paid into the system but would not be eligible to receive benefits. He urged for a change in the law to either provide him with coverage for the time he was paying or to broaden the eligibility requirements. Congressman Schwabe sympathized with Heinzman's situation and agreed that the current system was unfair, and expressed his willingness to support any program that would provide justice for people in similar situations.
