Consolidation of Surplus Property Disposal Operations, 1945-10-19
Scope and Contents
The Reconstruction Finance Corporation announced that starting on November 5, interested individuals can purchase surplus consumer, capital, and producer goods from the government by contacting regional RFC offices or Department of Commerce surplus property offices. The Office of Surplus Property of the Department of Commerce will be transferred to RFC to streamline the process of selling surplus goods. This consolidation aims to provide better coordination in the sale of surplus property and eliminate redundancy in handling closely related items by multiple agencies. The transfer is expected to involve $27.93 billion worth of surplus goods over a 12-month period.
