Addressing the Ticking Shortage Issue: Correspondence with George B. Schwabe, M.C. and OPA, 1945-10-11

Scope and Contents

The letter from Shilliam Supply Co. Inc. to George Schwabe addresses the issue of a shortage of tickings needed by mattress manufacturers due to OPA prices established in 1942. The Office of Price Administration is studying the cost of manufacturing and considering adjustable pricing to address the issue. Schwabe is urged to contact the OPA on behalf of the mattress manufacturers to seek a resolution to the problem. Schwabe expresses his frustration with the OPA in a response letter, criticizing their lack of action and suggesting that public pressure may be needed to prompt a response.
