Commemorative Stamp Request for Will Rogers Denied, 1946-09-24
Scope and Contents
Several letters were exchanged regarding the request for a commemorative stamp in honor of Will Rogers to be available on November 4th, his birthday. The Postmaster General expressed that it was not possible to issue the stamp at that time, but there was interest in adding a stamp to the Famous American Series in the future. Members of Congress and committees expressed disappointment but continued to push for the stamp's issuance.
