Immigration Laws for Fiancees of Exservicemen: A Congressional Inquiry, 1946-06-26
Scope and Contents
Mr. Barker inquired about the immigration of fiancées of ex-servicemen to the United States under Public Law 471. The response from Congressman Schwabe's office explained that British subjects enter the country under regular immigration laws and not the non-quota provision. It was confirmed that Mr. Barker's fiancée could visit and stay in the country for three months before deciding whether to marry or return to England. Congressman Schwabe's office offered assistance and information on the matter.
