Transportation Restrictions for State and County Fairs, 1945-04-20
Scope and Contents
Colonel J. Monroe Johnson of the Office of Defense Transportation warns fair managers not to make elaborate advance preparations for upcoming events due to heavy demands on transportation services. He emphasizes the need to reduce travel load and restrict holding of fairs to ease burden on railroads. Passenger car travel must be minimized for the foreseeable future due to shortages of equipment and supplies. Owners are urged to view their cars as part of the nation's transportation system and not for pleasure use.
