Scope and Contents

Congressman Glenn English received a letter from Mrs. Arlene N. Speck expressing concerns about the Mine Safety and Health Administration's policy requiring mine operators to replace noisy equipment. The response from MSHA indicated that they had discussed the concerns with Mrs. Elizabeth Joyce, president of Roosevelt Granite Co., Inc., and provided information on alternative, quieter mining methods. MSHA assured Congressman English that they had taken steps to address Mrs. Speck's concerns and offered further assistance if needed.
