Scope and Contents

The Superintendent of the Choctaw Nation in Muskogee, Oklahoma, is considering appointing William T. Walker as the custodian of the old Choctaw Capital. Congressman Carl Albert endorsed Walker for the position and Chief J. H. Belvin is reviewing the application. Belvin is also considering other applicants and waiting to see if the Department will provide a caretaker for the grounds. Walker is seeking support from Congressman Albert and Chief Belvin to secure the position.
