Coal Land Appropriation: A Request for Assistance, 1948-08-07
Scope and Contents
Mr. Thompson is inquiring about an appropriation in connection with the sale of Choctaw and Chickasaw coal lands. Senator Thomas and Congressman Carl Albert have been trying to secure the appropriation during a special session, but have faced challenges with the Bureau of the Budget. The only way to move forward would be through a deficiency appropriation bill. The Indian Service has advised that the item will be included in their budget for the next session if not passed during the current special session. Thompson is requesting assistance in securing the appropriation.
