Education Expansion for Navajos: A Letter Exchange, 1946-04-05
Scope and Contents
Mrs. Essie Jane Avery is requesting a transfer to the Indian Service in Oklahoma or Chamara, Oregon. She prefers a position in secondary schools for better pay. She has qualifications in education and hopes Congressman George B. Schwabe can assist her in securing a transfer. The Indian Office is conducting a study on education for Navajos, which may determine if Crownpoint will become a secondary school. Schwabe has been contacted about Avery's request and is working to gather more information.
