Request for Committee Meeting Permission Protocol, 1956-02-22
Scope and Contents
The letter is addressing the issue of committees needing permission to meet during Senate sessions. Senator Knowland has stated that he will object to any requests for unanimous consent unless the Minority Leader is consulted beforehand. The letter suggests that Senators should have their staff members contact the Majority Leader's office to prepare a written memorandum for approval by the Minority Leader. This process is expected to reduce difficulties in obtaining permission for committee meetings.
