Scope and Contents

Allen Harjo plans to challenge the Bureau of Indian Affairs policy in his appeal of the Creek Indian election he lost. He believes the BIA has jurisdiction over tribal elections and could intervene if necessary. Despite his appeal, incumbent Chief Claude Cox was sworn in for a second term. Harjo alleges voting irregularities in certain precincts. Cox is accused of intimidation and misconduct during the election process. Harjo believes these irregularities could have influenced the election outcome.
