Chief Election Drama: Six Candidates Vie for Principal Chief of the Creek Tribe, 1975-01-01 - 1975-12-31
Scope and Contents
Six individuals have filed for the position of principal chief of the Creek Tribe, including the incumbent Chief Claude A. Cox. One candidate, Mrs. Myrtle Brady, only paid a portion of the filing fee, and her candidacy may be disallowed. The qualifications limiting candidates to one-quarter Creek blood with high school diplomas have been disallowed by the Secretary of the Interior. The tribal council is expected to decide on Mrs. Brady's candidacy and potentially reschedule the primary runoff election.
