Scope and Contents
The text contains two letters. The first is from Congressman Carl Albert to Mr. Robert H. Kingsbury, Jr., dated May 31, 1963. In it, Congressman Albert informs Mr. Kingsbury that Secretary of the Interior Stewart Udall has announced he will appoint Mr. Overton James to serve a two-year term as Governor of the Chickasaws, starting with the expiration of the late Floyd Maytubby's term on October 18, 1963. The second letter is from Mr. Kingsbury to Congressman Albert, dated March 4, 1963. In it, Mr. Kingsbury asks Congressman Albert to recommend Overton James for the position of Chickasaw governor.
