Recommendation for Disposition of Funds for Iowa Tribes of Oklahoma and Kansas/Nebraska, 1971-01
Scope and Contents
The Department of the Interior supports H.R. 4353, a bill to pay judgments awarded to the Iowa Tribes of Oklahoma and of Kansas and Nebraska. The bill proposes to divide the funds based on percentage and allows for the funds to be advanced, expended, deposited, invested, or reinvested with approval from tribal governing bodies and the Secretary of the Interior. The bill also includes provisions for protecting shares of minors and those under a legal disability. Both tribes have approved constitutions and functioning tribal governing bodies.
