H.R. 4384 - Osage "headright" legislation, 1978-09-27 - 1978-10-10
Scope and Contents
The text contains a letter from Congressman James R. Jones to Mrs. Mary D. Vaughn, in response to a letter she sent concerning H.R. 4384. Congressman Jones explains that the bill will not have any effect on Osage Indians outside of Oklahoma, and that the Senate has recently passed a bill (S. 1081) that only affects Oklahoma Osage Indians. He also explains that the Bridge file (which Mrs. Vaughn requested be returned) was most likely destroyed in a regular purging of files at the end of the year.
