Letter Regarding the Indian Student Certification Form, 1979-10-31 - 1980-05-15
Scope and Contents
The Department of Health, Education and Welfare's Office of Education is writing to grantees to provide a status report on the Indian Student Certification (506) form used to establish student eligibility under the Indian Education Act, Part A, entitlement program for local educational agencies. The form is used to determine the number of Indian students enrolled in the public schools of a district, and consequently, the amount of funds to which the district is entitled. Because the Education Amendments of 1978 require certain information to be requested on the form, the form has been revised and is taking longer to print than anticipated. The revised form will not be available until November 1979, but will not be required for the fiscal year 1981 grants process. For the fiscal year 1980 grants process, grantees must notify the Office of Education of the correct count by October 31, 1979.
