TRANSCRIPT: Only four years ago. The nation was United in a salute to 200 years of American Liberty. The eyes of the world were upon us. No Ally doubted. That we were reliable no adversary doubted our full commitment to Freedom around the world. In just four years. Our strength is diminished. Our credibility is suspect. Our allies cast about for ways to accommodate to a world without America's leadership. Our adversary is grow Bolder probing the frontiers of freedom in some places penetrating them in others. The maintenance of world peace has become a central issue in the election of 1980 of all the objectives. We seek first and foremost is the establishment of lasting World Peace. We know only too. Well that war comes not when the forces of Freedom are strong. It is when they are weak. The tyrants are tempted. Ronald Reagan understands. The dangers of War comes when Statesman lose control over events. President who does not know how to use American influence to head off. Crises to shape events at an early stage invites disaster. Peace is made by the fact of strength economic military and strategic peace is lost when such strength disappears or just as bad as seen by an adversary as disappearing. We must build. Peace
