TRANSCRIPT: Wherever you live in America whatever newspapers you read. One subject has dominated the headlines. America's disintegrate and economy seldom in the history of this nation. As one subject. Been of such deep National concern. This is the real issue of the election of 1980 as November 4 draws near the American people must set aside old loyalties and party affiliations each and every one of us must face the hard facts facing America today. Never in our nation's history have we suffered such devastating inflation? The United States dollar. Once the most prized currency in the world is inflated to record levels. Devalued on the international money markets and simply worth less and less here at home with inflation as high as 18 percent this year. Our buying power is drastically reduced. Millions of American workers have been set back in their hopes to save for the future. For older Americans trying to make ends meet on fixed incomes. This administration's double-digit. Inflation is more than a concern. It's a catastrophe. Robbing you of your hard-earned savings and your dreams for Independence and peace of mind. Never in our nation's recent history. Have we been faced with such heartbreaking levels of unemployment today? The number is nearly eight million and these include hundreds of thousands of young men and women who can't even find their first job and the thousands and thousands College graduates educated jobless and disillusioned. This is the real picture of how serious. The problem is. Today never in our nation's history as an Administration failed. So completely this Administration promised the American people unemployment and inflation of no more than four percent
