Transcript – Full
Senator John Tower of Texas. Fellow Texans, the Democratic National Convention nominated as its choice for the vice presidency a man who was one of the founders of the left-wing Americans for Democratic Action, one of the most socialistically-minded organizations in this country today. Mr. Hubert Horatio Humphrey was not only one of the founders of ADA, he was one of its principal officers. The way ADA advocates such things is the recognition of Red China, admission of Red China to the United Nations, a soft line toward Castro, the surrender of much of America's national sovereignty, unilateral disarmament in the face of continued communist aggression, and a thoroughly managed society. Do you want to vote for an administration where a man who subscribes to this line will be next in line for the presidency? If you don't, then vote for Barry Goldwater on November the 3rd. Vote for Barry Goldwater. In your heart, you know he's right.
