This is Senator John Kennedy, the Democratic nominee for the presidency. I'm asking the people of Illinois for their support in this campaign. Illinois needs the benefit of a progressive national administration to provide employment for its people, those who work in the southern part of the state who have been hard hit by the closing of the mines. It needs clean rivers. It needs a farm policy which will put those back to work who have been let go of the farm instrument companies upon which Illinois so much depends. It needs progress, good education for our children, jobs for our people, medical care for our older people under Social Security. It needs a progressive national administration to move Illinois and the country forward. We are committed to that program. I ask your support in our efforts to bring the future and the United States closer together.
