Four photos of Tom Steed with Rex Davis, director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, 1973
Scope and Contents
The letter is from Howard "Bo" Callaway, Secretary of the Army, to Congressman Tom Steed following their meeting at the Pentagon on Thursday, August 15, 1973. Callaway thanks Steed for attending a breakfast briefing and encloses photos from the event. He expresses enthusiasm about the Army's accomplishments and offers assistance with information on Army matters. Callaway also volunteers to make radio and TV recordings with Steed to inform his constituents about various Army topics, including the new all-volunteer force (which had just begun that year following the end of the draft) and the expanding role of women in the Army. Four photographs were included.
