Postlogue. "'Crazy Snake' Revolt", undated
Scope and Contents
Two handwritten pages outlining the “Crazy Snake” Rebellion between Creek Indians and Oklahoma settlers in 1909, named after the leader of the rebellion, Chitto Harjo, the loose English translation of his name. Murray misidentifies him and the Indians as Cherokee—they were Creek.
Despite the title here and the typescript, this does not appear in the Postlogue (of Volume III). It is a part of Book IX, Ch. S. “On Rebellions and Crime; Official Peculation,” corresponding to Volume III, p. 203 (§ 221).
