Pencilled draft of suggestions concerning reading the work. This is Murray making notes both to the printer (note starting parenthetical comment, below) and the potential reader regarding sections of the Memoirs to prioritize. Text below:

Suggestions for readin[g] or study:
First, read “Post-log” at end of Book IX, Volume III [III, pp. 288 – 330]; 2nd, then begin at chapter A, Book IX, Volume III [III, pp. 7 – 12] and read all [of] that Book; and then, 3rd, begin first chapter of Volume I [I, Chap. B (?)—pp. 43 – 57], keeping in mind parts first read.
Remember: Tripple [sic] Index to all 3 Volumes is in back of Vol. I—Index of pictures-illustrations; index of names; index of sections to subjects."

These instructions or suggestions pertain to Book IX of Volume III of the Memoirs. They are likewise found in the front matter to Vol. III in the published edition.
