Scope and Contents
The Deborah Lovering Copeland Collection contains Souvenir Programs from the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo and other major ballet companies from 1942-1977, performance programs from the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo from the 1954-1955 season, and photographs from her time in the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo.

Biographical / Historical
Deborah Lovering graduated from the Brearley School in New York City, and while in school, she also studied ballet. Upon graduation, Deborah went to Paris to continue her dance study. While there, she was asked to join the American Ballet Theatre corps de ballet for a European tour. She later danced with the Slavenska-Franklin Dance Company. As Leonore Lovering she danced with Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo from 1954-1956. In 1957, she married Lammot Copeland. She died in Wilmington, DE at 89 on August 9, 2021. Following her death, Mr. Copeland donated her collection of dance books and memorabilia to the Ballets Russes Special Collections and Archive.
